Hawker Fare - Fried Carrot Cake

Fried Carrot Cake is my favorite hawker food. Period.

Black Fried Carrot Cake

Not to be mistaken with the dessert - Carrot Cake. Fried Carrot Cake is also known as Chai Tow Kway (dialect name for carrot cake) in Singapore. Just as foreigners eat cereal for breakfast, Fried Carrot Cake is one of the common hawker foods (among others) that makes it appearance at breakfast time. However, fear not, Fried Carrot Cake is eaten by Singaporeans at all times of the day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Due to its mushy texture, it's as popular with the old as it is with the very young. There are also two types of carrot cake - "black" and "white". Click here to read more about carrot cake details. I typically eat the black fried carrot cake for breakfast and get the white fried carrot cake for dinner, not on the same day of course!

Location: Bukit Timah 7 Mile Wet Market

Have you tried Carrot Cake? Love it or Hate it? Where is your favorite Carrot Cake Stall?
